This Egyptian sculpture caught my eye in the book because initially I thought it was a female. The large hips and sagging belly, and other anatomical features, automatically made me think this had to be a sculpture of a women. After reading that this Sandstone sculpture was actually a man, a king. I found it very interesting that this king chose to have himself portrayed in such an androgynous fashion.
When you come to class on Thursday, you will be surprised to find out why this figure looks like this. He is a very important person in Egypt's history.
