HEAD OF NEFERTITI
Ok, so I think I have an obsession with egyptian art. I like it so much I had to blog twice. The head of Nefertiti caught my attention because its so colorful. Most sculptures prior to this point where rather plain and lacked color. I enjoyed the dramatic use of color, it definitely caught my eye. I also found this piece of art to be really pretty. I wouldn't mind having the Head of Nefertiti in my house.
COLOSSAL FIGURE OF AKHENATEN
This Egyptian sculpture caught my eye in the book because initially I thought it was a female. The large hips and sagging belly, and other anatomical features, automatically made me think this had to be a sculpture of a women. After reading that this Sandstone sculpture was actually a man, a king. I found it very interesting that this king chose to have himself portrayed in such an androgynous fashion.
